If you got here by way of a search engine, looking for PHP scripts, you may (or may not) be wondering who I am.  Since you're here, I have to assume that you are.

I have been a technology professional for almost a decade, after dabbling in fine art, stock brokering, leather carving, bartending, teaching and various other oddities. I live in San Diego, California with my spouse, one dog, one cat, one gecko, two Russian tortoises, a rosy boa, a pet rat and assorted fish.

Like so many technology professionals, I had never imagined I would be a computer geek for a living - it just kinda happened. I had previously thought of programming as 1) horribly boring and 2) something that only people who are good at math could do.  Turns out neither are true. :)

I fell in love with the creative process behind developing web software.  Interface design, usability, viral marketing and the programming itself is vastly creative and unique.  Because the internet is always evolving, this gig never gets dull.  There is always something else to learn, and that's probably the only reason I have been doing this for so long.

I co-authored two books for Wrox Press, one on PHP web applications and one on mySQL transactions and replication.  If you're impressed, don't be.  They let anyone write books these days.  If you're stuck on the code in the PHP book, you can email me, but I will warn you that I rarely use Smarty, and that code was written a few years ago.  I'll try my best to help you if I have the time, but my plate is usually pretty full.

I am fairly traditional with regard to web and application development.  I still believe that every application should have a flow plan and a feature spec.  I believe that programs should be designed visually before any coding begins.  I believe that if the user cannot quickly find what they are looking for, you haven't done your job (no matter how stupid the user might be.)

In all of my copious free time, I am a channel op in #kernel-panic (channel for KPLUG) and #php on the freenode IRC network.

In addition to the tech stuff, I run a non-profit animal welfare organization and I am the moderator for the official Godsmack message boards.  (The pay is crap, but I get free backstage passes when the guys are in town.)  The animal organization takes up a great deal of my time - but it did land me in People Magazine and on the G. Gordon Liddy Show.

If you need to contact me, you may do so by emailing snipe AT snipe DOT net.  If I don't reply within a week, consider emailing again.  I get a lot of email.  If you need support with snipe gallery, please do not email me directly.  We have forums on the snipe gallery website for exactly that reason, and it will be helpful to others if you post your questions there.

Snipe.Net has been my forum for speaking my mind and occasionally entertaining people along the way.  If you don't like my opinions, don't read them.  Its really that simple.  Just stick to the techie sections and you'll be fine.  Speaking of techie things, I also run the technoweenies Yahoo group, which is a general web design discussion group for people of all skill levels.  If you're stuck with something, or if you would like a site reviewed before its ready for prime time, join the list and let us know.  (We're a friendly lot and we'll do what we can to help you.)
