Haha - yeah, its kind of a blessing and a curse. I am the go-to gal in my office for all things tech, even with Mac stuff, which I have only been using for a few months. All I do is Google it most of the time, but I come off looking great.

To be fair, there is an art to Googling well. More tech savvy people have a better idea of what to search on Google to get the bets results fastest. For example, related to my Airport in OSX article, someone could Google "Airport connection dropped" and they will get the results they want, buried in about two hundred thousand articles and blogs related to missing flights. Something like "Mac OSX airport scanning connection drops randomly" was what I used to do the research for that article. So perhaps sometimes people are searching Google, just not very well.

I have to confess here, sometimes I like being the fastest on the Google draw - people being lazy and/or stupid makes me look like a rocket scientist at work sometimes…

I used to wonder if people ever got in the habit of Googling information if my rep as a walking encyclopedia might suffer a painful death.

What amazes me more is that many colleges are now cautioning students AGAINST Googling for information. This baffles me. No, you might not get a peer-reviewed study right away, but you'll at least get a link to a link that leads you there!
